RAF 2nd World War Sofa Suite
£0.00
Default Title - Sold
Enquire About This Piece.
This 1930's leather sofa suite comes from RAF Uxbridge air base. It was sold out of the WW2 pilot officers mess hall. Today it is the "RAF Battle of Britain Club" part of the RAF base at RAF Uxbridge. During the war RAF Uxbridge played an important role in the battle of Britain, protecting London from aerial attack with both spitfires and hurricanes, using the runways of nearby Northolt. Most definitely WW2 spitfire pilots and other officers and dignitaries of that period sat in these very chairs. Douglas Bader recovered at RAF Uxbridge following his leg amputations and probably would have been a regular in the bar in this mess hall. They have sat in a dry storeroom since the end of the war. Provence through members of the RAF.
